Wolves vs Blues: The inside track on Garry Monk's men

Luke Hatfield spoke with David Brown, creator of Davo's Diaries, to get an insider look at Garry Monk's side. See what he had to say here:

Wolves obviously got the better of Blues last time around, do you expect a change in tact from that game from Birmingham?

We’re a much different side to the one that toiled through the dark days of December.

Wolves weren’t at their best that night at St Andrew’s but didn’t need to be.

I’d like to think we can actually muster a shot on target against them this time around.

Garry Monk has obviously come in at St. Andrews and there have been some positive results - how has he changed things since coming in?

Mainly by not being a negative, arrogant, pompous blame shifter who’s in over his head.

Steve Cotterill was a disaster at Blues and Monk has been a much-needed breath of fresh air with his positive outlook and his desire to connect with players and fans.

The fighting spirit is back and even in losing 3-1 at Bristol City we played well for large parts of the game and created lots of chances.

Obviously Wolves can claim promotion with a win on Sunday, do you think this could add some fire to an already feisty derby game, and will Blues treat the game as one where they don't want their local rivals to see such success against them?

This has become a very spicy fixture and both sets of fans will create a proper football atmosphere despite the early kick-off.

We’re coming to spoil the party and Wolves fans will be hoping to not just celebrate but to rub it in our faces.

It’ll be niggly and full-blooded all the way and it’s how football should be.

Have Blues done any transfer business in January? Could their business play a part in the game?

No, but replacing Cotterill with Monk has given our record signing Jota a new lease of life.

It’s like having a brand new player, giving us a creative spark that we were badly lacking.

Do you think a win over Wolves could spur Blues to survival? Could a derby win be enough to push them to safety?

Picking up any result at Molineux would be a great sign for us and another huge confidence builder, but with Barnsley having a game in hand there are no guarantees and we’re probably going to be looking over our shoulder at results elsewhere again until the final day.

How do you expect Blues to face up against the league leaders? Do you think they'll try and frustrate Wolves?

Monk has been very attack-minded by our standards but we might set up slightly more defensively than we have in recent weeks.

I can’t see us creating the 18 chances we had on Tuesday, but we’ll get after it in midfield and you can count on another blood-and-thunder performance from local favourite David Davis.

What do you make of Wolves' promotion credentials, judging by what you've seen, could they cut it in the Premier League?

One of the best teams in recent memory in the Championship.

Neves is on another level and should be comfortable playing at the highest level for many years to come, and Diogo Jota has impressed me every time I’ve seen him.

There’s already enough there for Wolves to survive in the Premier League and no doubt more additions to come in the summer.

Your match prediction?

Wolves 2-1 Blues.

I think we’ll give a good account of ourselves but can’t see Wolves slipping up this close to the finish line.
