Police probe into 'racist chanting' during Millwall and Wolves clash could be dropped

The Metropolitan Police force has looked at alleged racism at the Boxing Day game at The New Den.

Supporters of Millwall were accused of racist chanting at a number of Wolves players.

But while investigations by the Football Association continue, the police probe may be coming to an end.

A spokesman for the police force said: "This matter is still open but the investigating officer is having trouble contacting the complainant.

"Several attempts have been made to make an appointment with but on each occasion he has failed to show.

"The office in charge is going to try one more time and if he fails to respond then the matter will be closed and no further action will be taken."

Anti-racism charity Kick it Out received several reports over the alleged racist chanting at the game, which finished 2-2.

It demanded an 'urgent investigation'.

A spokesman said: "Unfortunately we are unable to comment on the case at this time because despite it being two and half months since the incident, the Football Association are still investigating."

A spokesman for the FA said: "The matter is still on-going."

The racist remarks and chants were reportedly made by towards Alfred N’Diaye and Romain Saiss.
