Ian Holloway: QPR were 'just as good, if not better' than Wolves

The home side's opener from Conor Washington was cancelled out just minutes later by Leo Bonatini after some lovely wing play from Diogo Jota.

But a header from QPR's Matt Smith 10 minutes from time saw Wolves drop to second in the Championship.

The home side's boss thought Wolves deserved to be towards the top of the table but believes QPR looked better than Nuno's men.

He said: "We looked as good as them if not better. I knew my players would work hard. That's what I'm proud of.

"They went and did that against the team that were top - and I think they deserve to be the way they move the ball.

"It was a tough game, we saw their quality in the second half. First half we stifled them, we knew where they were gonna be - the lads had concentrated on it.

"We pressed and won it back. What we didn't do is take enough of the opportunities, maybe because we couldn't and they defended well."

Bonatini should have put the visitors in front early in the second half after some great link up play with Jota but he smashed it above the bar.

A Sheffield United win against Leeds last night means Wolves sit second in the league, one point behind the Blades.

Holloway - who has caused controversy among the Molineux faithful in the past - says he thought Wolves looked "angry" after QPR's opener.

And believes his defenders should have "tripped up" Jota to stop the equaliser.

"When we got in front, we let them equalise and it looked like they got angry, he added. They're a big threat. And the one fellow who ran (Jota) maybe we should have tripped him up. Gary Neville would have watched that and said it should have been a professional foul."

Wolves will return to action away at Norwich on Tuesday night.
