The right-back, who has not missed a league game in two years under Corberan playing in 89 consecutive fixtures, last week signed terms until 2027.
The 28-year-old’s existing deal expired next summer. The head coach reckons it would have been easy for Furlong to find suitors elsewhere. Corberan said: “As a club we are analysing every particular case. It’s different this year to last year, this year we can be proactive because there is a plan in the club and financial stability to go forward with these decisions.
“There is no question mark for me Furlong deserved the extension, for how important he has been in the last years, particularly how important with me at the club. He is one of the players who has played more minutes with.
