See how we rated the Albion players in their final game of the season against Leeds.

Sam Johnstone

He’s had a wonderful season and could yet be crowned player of the year. But just like his team-mates, Johnstone lacked intensity here with the keeper letting Kalvin Phillips’ free-kick go straight through him.

Uncharacteristic error 4

Semi Ajayi

Part of a back three that struggled badly, Ajayi found it tough coping with Leeds’ movement and the pace they got the ball forward.

Struggled 5

Kyle Bartley

The former Leeds man could have scored early on when he met a free-kick from Conor Gallagher. Like Ajayi, he found the going tough overall.

Underwhelming 5

Dara O’Shea

Subbed off in the second half as Albion looked to change system. O’Shea wasn’t happy about it and had a heated exchange with Allardyce. That was understandable, with the youngster having been harshly hooked by the boss on multiple occasions this season.

Frustrated 5

Darnell Furlong

Clattered inside the opening 30 seconds by Liam Cooper, you couldn’t question Furlong’s commitment. But he struggled to impact the game from right wing-back.

Quiet 5

Conor Townsend

Another who gave his all, Townsend was the pick of Albion’s defenders. The wing-back made one or two well-timed challenges. He also played a nice ball to tee up Callum Robinson in the first half.

Well-rounded 6

Okay Yokuslu

He’s been brilliant since he arrived on loan from Celta Vigo. But Yokuslu’s last performance in an Albion shirt was his worst, with the Turkish international giving away a needless penalty.

Poor 4

Conor Gallagher

As always, the Chelsea loanee got around the pitch and broke up play well. He felt he should have had a penalty when tripped in the box. But those appeals were quickly waved away.

Energetic 6

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Given another opportunity to prove he is a central midfielder, Maitland-Niles didn’t take it in what was a quiet and ineffective display.

Disappointing 4

Matt Phillips

Deployed as central striker, Phillips proved to be Albion’s best player on the day. The 30-year-old carried the ball well, worked really hard and also saw a strike from the edge of the box deflect against the post.

Impressive 7

Callum Robinson

While Robinson and Phillips were a front two when Albion had the ball, without it they were tasked with protecting their wing-back. That meant the Baggies spent a lot of time pegged in. But when he did get on the ball, Robinson looked bright. Also not happy to be subbed.

Bright-ish 6

Substitutes

Hal Robson-Kanu (for O’Shea 60), Grady Diangana (for Robinson 61), Karlan Grant (for Maitland-Niles 83). Subs not used: Button, Peltier, Taylor, Gardner-Hickman, Iroegbunam, Diagne.
