The midfielder, who is currently away with the England under-21 squad, joined the Baggies on a temporary basis from Chelsea last summer.

While overall it has been a disappointing season at The Hawthorns, Gallagher has been a real bright spot with the 21-year-old impressing with his energetic displays.

Those performances have led to reports Thomas Tuchel is considering using him in his Chelsea squad next season. And the midfielder believes his time with Albion has improved his game significantly.

“I’ve definitely kicked on,” Gallagher said when asked about his move to The Hawthorns. “I was excited to play in the Premier League this season and I’ve loved every minute of it.

“It’s been a tough season for West Brom so far, so (I’ve learnt about) doing the dirty side of the game and the importance of work off the ball.

“Premier League quality will punish you if you switch off so need to concentrate and be focused.

“Everyone throughout their careers has a lot of tough moments.

“You experience losing and things like that and you improve.”

Last season, Gallagher enjoyed successful loans in the Championship with Charlton and Swansea.

“I know people have other views on players going on loan but I’ve had three different experiences at teams with different styles, different managers and players,” he added. “I’ve learnt a lot over the last two years.”
