Sam Johnstone

The goalkeeper has produced heroics time and time again this season. And he did it once more here with a truly outstanding save to deny Roberto Firmino.

Late heroics 8

Darnell Furlong

It’s never easy up against Andy Robertson. But Furlong defended well throughout and also sent in some dangerous crosses.

Impressive 7

Semi Ajayi

He’ll be disappointed with Saido Mane’s goal, but that was Ajayi’s only real mistake in an otherwise colossal display.

He also made up for it with an outstanding header to pull Albion level.

Colossal 9

Dara O’Shea

What an outstanding young player Albion have on their books. O’Shea was simply magnificent against arguably the best attacking team in Europe.

He was dominant in the air and strong in the tackle. But it was his reading of the game that was so impressive, with that ensuring he made a number of crucial interceptions.

Magnificent 9

Kieran Gibbs

Another steady showing from the former Arsenal man. Gibbs defended well throughout and, as is often the case, combined well with Grady Diangana.

Solid 7

Grady Diangana

He may want go forward and showcase his flicks and tricks, but Diangana is very good defensively and he showed that here.

The winger made a number of clever tackles and interceptions. And he tried his best to make things happen when he did get on the ball.

Committed 7

Matt Phillips

Got the captain’s armband and repaid that faith by putting in an energetic and battling performance in a new-ish role in central midfield.

Busy 7

Romaine Sawyers

Another midfielder who, defensively, gave everything he could to keep Liverpool at bay.

Sawyers also played a fabulous ball to put Karlan Grant through one-on-one. He also had a role in the short corner which led to Ajayi’s equaliser

Tidy 7

Conor Gallagher

Another display bursting with energy from the youngster who ran his socks off to ensure he was always in the right position for his team.

Endurance king 7

Callum Robinson

Back in the starting XI, Robinson had the duel job of playing on the right flank but also having to support Grant when Albion looked to break.

He did it resolutely in what was another hard working display.

Hard working 7

Karlan Grant

Missed one big chance to score when he was sent through one-on-one. Overall, though, this was better from Grant.
