O'Shea, who has featured for his country throughout the younger age groups, has been drafted into the first-team by coach Stephen Kenny to help provide some versatility to his squad ahead of the Nations League clashes.

The 21-year-old managed 17 Championship appearances under Slaven Bilic last season, and became integral for the Baggies at right back, albeit with centre back his natural position - he's also featured on the left flank on occasion.

"We have added Dara O'Shea to the squad." Kenny said.

"Dara has obviously come through the ranks of U15 right through every year and shown himself very capable of playing all four [defensive] positions really with West Brom last year.

"He's a centre-half really who's played to the right of centre back, he's played at right back for a good bit this season [and] left back down toward the end of last season for West Brom.

"With one or two other injuries we've just given ourselves that additional cover with Dara coming in, with his ability to play the four positions - he's an asset."

O'Shea had previously been called up for Ireland's U21 squad, but will now make the step up and hope to earn his first senior cap for the country over the next week.

The youngster joins former Albion loanee Callum Robinson in the senior side, whilst Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane and former Wolves defender Matt Doherty are also included.

Former Albion striker Shane Long is also in the side, alongside current Baggies transfer target Shane Duffy.
