Albion News, which is written and edited by Dave Bowler, has been named Championship Programme of the Year by souvenir specialists M60 Programmes.

It comes after the programme was also given the same award by Programme Monthly and the Northern Programme Club, completing a rare hat-trick.

“It’s always nice to get recognition from someone that they like what you do, so I’m really pleased that we’ve won these awards,” said Bowler.

“In saying that, the feedback we get from the Throstletariat is always really strong, in letters, emails and online and in the finish, the main thing is the paying public likes it.

“They’re the ones paying my wages.

“It’s a team effort, and I’d like to thank Curtis Sport, our designer Karl Wheeler, our tiny team of contributors and the sellers who go out in all weathers to get the copies into people’s hands.”

Albion News is a regular winner of awards, thanks to its in-depth interviews with club staff and forensic delvings into the club’s storied history.

“We’re lucky, we’ve been winning awards since I started doing this in 2001/02,” said Bowler.

“I honestly don’t know how many we’ve won, but we’ve won something pretty much every season.

“I used to buy a bottle of scotch every time we won just to commemorate it, but it turned me into a raging alcoholic so I gave that up…”
