Egypt’s coach Javier Aguirre has decided to give Hegazi a rest due to his busy schedule in England.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Aston Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady have also been rested for the African Cup of Nations qualifier with Niger and a friendly with Nigeria.

It will be a welcome break for Hegazi, who limped off during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat with Sheffield United after picking up an ankle injury.

“He looked in a lot of discomfort,” said Darren Moore afterwards.

Hegazi is a doubt for this Friday’s clash against Leeds United, with Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo expected to take his place.

Hal Robson-Kanu, who has missed the last two games with a side strain, faces a late fitness test for that match.

Albion academy product Kemar Roofe will also miss this Friday’s match at Elland Road after suffering ligament damage to his knee.

Marcelo Bielsa’s top scorer has 14 goals this season, but will not be back until later in the season.

Elsewhere, former Albion player and coach Craig Shakespeare will be a meeting fans at the official supporters’ club main branch meeting at The Hawthorns tonight.

The event is open to members only, but you can join on the night.

Michael Appleton, who also played and coached at the Baggies, is meeting the Kidderminster branch of the supporters’ club at Kidderminster Cricket Club next Thursday, March 7. Both events start at 8pm.
