Sam Field impressed. (AMA)

Jonathan Bond

Still yet to concede a goal for the first team, so that's a double 0 for Bond following his second clean sheet in a row. But this one was more impressive than the last. He made seven saves in total, including a remarkable one at full stretch to push Dale Stephens' shot onto the post. One or two corners caused him trouble, but when Shane Duffy's running at you, that's understandable. Despite that, this was a man of the match performance from the 25-year-old, who has now leapfrogged Boaz Myhill in the pecking order. 9/10

Tyrone Mears

Unsurprisingly, the 35-year-old looks far more at home as a traditional right-back rather than a wing-back, and this was a solid performance from Mears who defended resolutely and added an attacking threat too. His contract is up on Thursday, but based on this, he could be inexpensive cover at right-back for the rest of the season, allowing funds to be funnelled further forward. 7/10

Kyle Bartley

There was always a feeling he was being played of position earlier this season and the last two games at right centre-back have proved why Darren Moore signed him. Bartley was brilliant against Brighton, not only did he defend sternly, but he even looked composed in possession. Amazing what confidence can do. 8/10

Tosin Adarabioyo

If Bartley is benefiting from playing in his correct position, than so he Adarabioyo. The 21-year-old was imperious at the back, winning every header and making every tackle. But he was also a class act on the ball, demanding possession in tight spaces before moving Albion forward. In the middle, he looks far more like a Manchester City player. Hopefully he's not recalled. 9/10

Conor Townsend

Kept Anthony Knockaert in check, forcing him to switch wings to search for easier prey. Like Mears, put in a solid defensive performance and yet added an attacking dimension. Remains a solid back-up to Gibbs, and with development, could be a future first-teamer. 7/10

Rekeem Harper

His fourth game in a row in Albion's engine room and this time he wasn't flanked by Gareth Barry. But Harper has a composure that belies his 18 years, and rarely wastes a pass. The only blemish came in the second half, when he wasted a chance to shoot instead. 7/10

Sam Field

No Barry? No problem. This was the Sam Field Albion fans had hoped to see this season, a mature and confident display from the base of midfield. Crunched into tackles, and started the team's patterns of play. Held a young and inexperienced midfield trio together expertly having grown in confidence after his goal against Bolton. 9/10

Kyle Edwards

Deserves huge credit for adapting to a new role in a midfield three, and getting to grips to it relatively early on in the game. Tidy in possession, he broke forward at times, but it was his work off the ball which impressed the most. Another layer to his game, but does this Cup run halt his mooted loan move to League One? 7/10

Jonathan Leko

Deserves sympathy because he was playing up front against the muscular might of Shane Duffy and Dan Burn, but struggled to take his chances or make the ball stick. Oodles of talent but a lack of end product can be infuriating. Struggling with his back to goal in the first half is understandable but his strength is running at players, and he wasted too many chances to do that in the second half. Did set up Harper for his chance though. 6/10

Wes Hoolahan

Dropped deep into midfield to help out the youngsters and was constantly busying himself, looking for the ball and trying to create. Couldn't quite pick the lock, but if anyone was going to, you felt it might be him. 7/10

Hal Robson-Kanu

Another battling performance from Albion's strong-man up front, but if the ball doesn't stick to Robson-Kanu – who can be so good with his back to goal – then the major benefit of his attributes goes missing. Unfortunately, this time, he lost the battle. 6/10

Substitutes

Showed flashes on his Albion debut.
