The 21-year-old could be recalled this month by Leicester, and Moore admitted everyone at Albion was ‘holding their breath’ waiting for the decision.

But he believes Barnes is developing his game at The Hawthorns and wants him to stay.

“We go week to week with Harvey,” he said. “Harvey’s done really well here and I’m pleased we brought him in.

“We’ve developed him, he’s definitely a better player now and he’s been a crowd favourite. You can understand why.

“Everybody’s holding their breath. We’re very hopeful of keeping him and extending his loan for the second half of the season.

“We’ll wait and see, that’s the best thing I can say. We all want to keep him, but at the moment there’s no change.

“They’ve got the option to do it, but they’ve not called him back yet.”

Albion have brought the majority of their youngsters out on loan back in for training this week in order to get progress reports.

Leicester have not done that with Barnes, but Moore is happy for them to.

“If they want to call him back and get some eyes on him, then we’ll be fully co-operative,” he said. “We’re here to work with Leicester, not against Leicester.

“At the moment he’s here. But in this game we serve things can change by the hour, the minute, the second, it really is that fast.

“I’m not going to build false promises. If Leicester do call him back, it is what it is.”
