Darren Moore demanding more from West Brom

Darren Moore is still not satisfied with his Albion team despite their six-game unbeaten run.

Albion’s head coach is pleased with the progress made in the last few weeks following a tweak in formation and is happy to enter the busy Christmas period in a rich vein of form.

The Baggies sit in the promising position of third as they near the halfway point of the campaign, but Moore admits there are still aspects of his team he wants to tidy up for the second half of the season.

“I’m pleased with the strides we’ve made over a short space of time,” said Moore. “I’m not completely satisfied because there’s a lot of work to be done still.

“That doesn’t stop, despite where we may be in the league.

“There are aspects I am pleased with, there are aspects we need to tidy up, and get better at. And we will get better at.”

Albion have won four and drawn two since switching to a more resolute 4-3-3 system, but even though they look more solid in defence, they have still only kept one clean sheet in the league.

But with their firepower up front, limiting the opposition to one goal per game – as they have done in five of the last six fixtures – has proved enough.

Moore believes his side is showing more resilience now, which bodes well for a run of five games in 15 days over Christmas and New Year.

“You always want to go into the Christmas campaign in a bit of form,” he said. “But whatever part of the year it is you want to keep your momentum going.

“I’m really pleased the players showed that grit and determination, because we needed that.”

Moore has also been pleased with how his squad has stepped up. Hal Robson-Kanu and James Morrison forced their way into the team before picking up injuries, but now Gareth Barry has done the same.

“Gareth’s had some stellar performances” said Moore.
