Darren Moore hails West Brom's 4-1 win over Leeds as best of the season

The Baggies ended a four-game winless streak in stunning style, thrashing Marcelo Bielsa's men, who started the weekend top of the Championship.

They crashed in four second-half goals but just as impressive was their defensive work off the ball on a night Leeds enjoyed 72 per cent possession.

When Moore was asked if it was his side's most complete performance of the season, he said: "I think so, in terms of our performance.

"We wanted a performance and we got one here tonight. We needed that.

"The biggest thing for me was the ability to work with the team. For once the league programme had a break in the week and didn't have a game and we were able to work in training. I think you've seen signs of that today.

"It was a good performance from the team from the first minute really. We got up and at them early doors and were able to keep the momentum going. I'm pleased to win the game and get three points."

Moore made a number of tactical changes that improved Albion and helped them to the win.

He switched to a 4-3-3 formation that both solidified the back line and allowed the Baggies to press Leeds's defence ferociously.

He also gave Hal Robson-Kanu his first start in the league since opening day, and the striker impressed, scoring the first goal shortly after half-time.

But it was Albion's more direct approach that made the biggest difference on the night, and cut out individual errors at the back.

"It was a system and style of play we felt was right for this game and it worked tonight," said Moore. "We felt this would suit the night.

"But also the players have got to be committed to it to make it work, and we saw that.

"I'm pleased with them as a group. I'm also pleased with the atmosphere inside the stadium, and it inspired the players on.

"I'm pleased for everybody connected to the club."
