The Baggies are the top scorers in all four divisions, and have already scored as many league goals as they managed throughout the whole of last season.

In fact, they’ve scored as many goals in the second half of games (23) as the second-highest scorers in the Championship, Leeds, have managed in total.

But Albion were shut out by Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and Moore wants his team to find the net with even more frequency.

When he was asked what needs to improve he said: “Score more goals. Why not?

“Defensively we need to be better, use the ball better. Shape and dynamic needs to be better. The whole aspect of it.

“If I sat here as a head coach and said ‘I’m happy’ that would not be right. We have to keep working and get better.

“Those are the challenges that present us every single day.

“For us as a team, staff, squad, football club, supporters, we all need to work.

“Everybody has got a part to play if we are to get this club back on the right track.”

Moore hasn’t had long to work with his players before tomorrow’s match with Derby County, but he’s still trying to teach his players.

“You’re still trying to pinch little bits,” he said. “You’re trying to claw at every little bit of time.

“There’s a new change here, so we’re trying to get it rock solid.

“The only way you can do that is to keep working.”
