Matt Phillips has withdrawn from the Scotland squad with a slight ankle injury and will not be featuring in their forthcoming games against Belgium and Albania.

His fellow international team-mate James Morrison was not named in the Scotland squad and missed Albion’s win over Stoke City with a groin strain.

Dwight Gayle, who scored both goals in that 2-1 victory, went off during the game a few minutes after receiving treatment for a knock.

However, the Baggies are confident all three players will be available for the game at St Andrew’s on Friday, September 14, which is being broadcast live on Sky.

When he was asked about Morrison’s absence after the Stoke game, head coach Darren Moore said: “In training he struck a ball and felt a little niggle.

“Hopefully within four or five days he should be back in training. We just didn’t risk him.”

Phillips’s withdrawal from the Scotland squad means the only Albion player away on senior international duty during this break is Ahmed Hegazi, who is joining up with Egypt.

However, Oliver Burke is in the Scotland under-21 squad, Sam Field is in the England under-20 squad and Rekeem Harper is in the England under-19 squad.
