Darren Moore wants to strengthen West Brom this week

Darren Moore has 'one or two targets' he'd like to add to his Albion squad before the loan window shuts this Friday.

Moore's priority is a right-back after Allan Nyom's exit on loan to Leganes left him without a recognised one at the club.

But he is also keen to bolster other positions in his squad before Friday's 5pm deadline.

"We’re continuing to search," confirmed Moore. "We’ve got one or two targets in mind.

"If it’s possible we’d like to get them done. There’s a couple of targets we’ve viewed. We’ll let the process take it’s course.

"The only time you’re confident is when they’ve signed and sealed. You can be ever hopeful and put your targets out there, but only when they’re signed and sealed are they confirmed.

"If the right players we've identified become available and we can add them to the squad then we will do."

Albion dropped to 11th place in the embryonic Championship table over the weekend after losing 1-0 to Tony Pulis's Middlesbrough side on Friday night.

But Moore doesn't believe that defeat is a yardstick for Albion's upcoming season.

"I don’t think so because it’s the Championship," he said. "The Championship, every single week, will ebb and flow.

"That’s the exciting thing about this league. It’s the old cliche but it’s just one game at a time.

"Is it going to be a benchmark for the season ahead? Not at all, it’s just three points."

Although Boro's late winner came from a defensive mix-up at the back which included Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hegazi, Moore was pleased to reintroduce Dawson to his backline.

The 28-year-old, who played the last 20 minutes at the Riverside, featured for the first time since handing in a transfer request over summer.

And he bolsters Moore's options at right-back, a position he played for nearly three years under Pulis.

"When he came on you've seen the great player Craig is," said Moore. "He uses the ball very well, he's a dominant player, an experienced player and he'll be a big player for us for the remainder of the season."

"To have Dawson on the bench and being able to call upon his experience, I felt it was right in terms of the game.

"I thought it worked well up until the final stages."
