Terraneo, who was appointed in April as a temporary consultant after technical director Nick Hammond was sacked, has been removed from transfer negotiations by Jenkins.

The Italian’s short-term contract with Albion officially expires in September, although he has already effectively been stripped of the majority of his duties.

He will still help identify targets during the last few weeks of his contract, but head coach Darren Moore will have the final say on recruitment.

Jenkins will be in control of transfer negotiations, alongside director of football administration Richard Garlick and club lawyer Simon Carrington.

It marks a strange winding down to Terraneo’s short association with the Baggies.

The former goalkeeper, who was most recently sporting director at Fenerbahce, was a left-field appointment in April that is believed to have come directly from Albion’s Chinese owners.

However, it’s believed Jenkins has been unhappy with his work behind the scenes.

Jenkins is now on the hunt for a new technical director to help assist Moore because the board is full of financial expertise, but not footballing experience.

Garlick is also departing for a new role with the Premier League at the end of July, removing an experienced member from the board.

Moore and the Albion squad returned for pre-season yesterday and have flown out to the Algarve in Portugal today for a six-day training camp.
