Evans, who is due to feature for Northern Ireland in tonight’s friendly with Costa Rica, will be available for £3million this summer.

O’Neill believes the defender is capable of playing for a top six club next season and hopes he gets a move to a side of that stature.

Leicester are currently in pole position to land the Albion skipper, but are baulking at a £4m agent fee. Manchester City and Arsenal were interested last season too.

Asked whether Evans could play for top-six club, O'Neill told Sky Sports: "He's certainly capable of that.

"He had a difficult second half of the season, but so did West Brom as a whole.

"Jonny has all the attributes to play in a top-six side, there's no doubt about that. The price you can get him for is an absolute steal, given what people are buying players for nowadays.
