The 20-year-old, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Baggies in January, scored in the 89th minute in Exeter’s 3-1 defeat to Coventry City.

Edwards has spent the season at St James Park with fellow Albion youngster Kane Wilson, who remained an unused substitute on Monday.

But Edwards came off the bench in the 73rd minute before scoring his second goal of the season for Paul Tisdale’s men.

The Albion man has featured 27 times for Exeter this season, mainly as a substitute. Right-back Wilson, 18, made 22 appearances for the Grecians, but the majority of them were starts.

Elsewhere, James McClean completed 90 minutes in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-0 defeat to France in Paris.
