Crystal Palace 2 West Brom 0 - Player ratings

Albion's poor season finished with a limp on Sunday, when they were outclassed by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Here, we rate the players.

Published
Ahmed Hegazi, Craig Dawson, and Jay Rodriguez. (AMA)

Ben Foster

Managed to keep Palace at bay until the 70th minute. Nothing much he could have done about either of the goals, and he made some important saves before that - including a sharp reflex one to stop Brunt from scoring an own goal. 7/10

Allan Nyom

Let Van Aanholt run in behind him far too easily, and that’s where Palace’s first goal came from. It was inevitable they would score that way. 5/10

Craig Dawson

Another battling performance at centre-back from Dawson, who played well mostly. But he was rolled by Zaha too easily on the halfway line on one occasion. 7/10

Ahmed Hegazi

Lost the ball in the corner in the first half unnecessarily, but he improved after the break and one covering tackle in the box was particularly memorable. 6/10

Kieran Gibbs

Seemed intent to enjoy himself on the final day of school because he went walkabout on a few occasions, and popped up in central midfield and even in attack. 6/10

Jay Rodriguez

Moved out onto the right wing where he is arguably a bit wasted. One burst from the edge of his box into the opposition’s half was memorable but he tried an audacious flick when he got his only sniff at goal late on. 6/10

Chris Brunt

Made a match-high eight tackles in the midfield minefield, where it was a bit of a slog at times. Nearly turned it into his own net early on. 6/10

Jake Livermore

The central midfielder kept up his recent impressive form with a committed and battling performance in midfield. He won possession high up the pitch, and was determined to keep going. His battle with Ruben Loftus-Cheek in midfield was particularly interesting. 7/10

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Given a chance to shine with Matt Phillips injured and he came closest to scoring with a sweetly-struck volley in the first half. But his passes were telegraphed too often and he was substituted off early. 5/10

James McClean

Fired the ball across the goal for Rodriguez’s chance late on but the majority of Palace’s chances came down his wing. 5/10

Salomon Rondon

Struggled to shield the ball from James Tomkins, who played well, and had nothing created for him. Didn’t make an impact, but had little help. 5/10

Substitutes

Nacer Chadli (Krychowiak 65)

Didn't create anything of note. 5/10

Hal Robson-Kanu (Rondon 72)

Struggled just as much as Rondon. 5/10

Daniel Sturridge (Rodriguez 74)

His disastrous loan spell comes to a limp end. 5/10

Unused: Myhill, McAuley, Leko, Burke.
