Technical consultant Giuliano Terraneo has started to stamp his authority on the recruitment process at Albion by dismissing two talent scouts.

Andy Thorn and Simon Ford were both brought to the club by former head coach Tony Pulis, but they have now left the club. They are due to be replaced in time by Terraneo’s own men.

Thorn, a former Coventry City and Kidderminster Harriers manager, was a senior scout who had been at the Baggies since January 2015, when Pulis took over as head coach.

London-born Ford spent most of his playing career with Kilmarnock before retiring in 2013 after a loan spell at AFC Telford.

Terraneo was appointed as a temporary technical consultant on a six-month contract three weeks ago.

The Italian, who has held similar technical and sporting director roles at Lazio, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahce, has been charged with helping chief executive Mark Jenkins to find a new head coach for the team.

Albion hope to appoint their new man shortly after the season ends and Terraneo will be working alongside that new head coach to identify targets for the summer rebuild.

The 64-year-old is expected to increase the club’s reach in mainland Europe, where he has a higher profile.

Terraneo will also be part of the team making decisions over player sales, and there are a host of clubs now lining up to take Albion's best players in the summer.

Former Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is reportedly keen on both Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez, and will offer them a route back into the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

And Leicester City have rekindled their interest in skipper Jonny Evans, who is on the radar of several clubs because of his modest £3million release clause.
