Big Dave’s juggernaut continues to roll on and hope still smiles on us for now.

Having managed Manchester United, then levelled against Liverpool, we nullified Newcastle and still we have a chance.

It’s clear to see the players have responded to the big man, and why shouldn’t they? Blue and white runs through his veins.

What is startling is that by saying ‘we play for him’ are the players saying they didn’t for Pardew?

Either way we know what we need. Two wins from two games and Swansea to foul up.

A big ask but whilst there’s a chance we must believe.

So should Darren Moore get the managers job permanently? Let’s not get too carried away, it’s weeks, not years into his managerial career and sentiment has little or no place in top level football.

So this weekend will prove one way or the other that either we are the greatest escape artists since Houdini or what many of us already know, didn’t show up until it was too late.

Overall, Pulis stagnated us, Pardew fluffed his lines and the players have let the club down big time. At least with a final rallying call this weekend, let the players step up and be counted. There’s no hiding place now.

Okay, so there is no doubting now, Darren Moore is a serious contender to take up the head coach role on a full-time basis.

Saturday’s superb win away at Newcastle has just made the board’s decision a hell of a lot harder, as a huge proportion of the Albion faithful are now calling for him to be appointed.

Pros are: the fans love him, the players love him, he loves the club and knows it inside out and from what we’ve seen so far he’s obviously not too bad at this coaching lark.

Cons are: no experience, he’s likely to lose a proportion of the players who are performing so well for him now and are we just seeing an upturn in form due to the fact the players have one eye on the summer transfer window?

It’s a tough call undoubtedly but whereas before I was leaning towards the ‘too soon’ side of the fence, I just feel now it would be foolish not to give him a shot!

There’s more pros than cons in my opinion and also, if we don’t give him the gig full-time, there’s a very good chance that someone else will be willing to take a risk on him, due to the great job he’s done since stepping in for us, and the opportunity may then never come our way again.

Let’s be honest we probably are still going to get relegated but the job that Darren Moore has done and the positivity he has instilled into the players and supporters has been nothing short of remarkable.

Announced on Tuesday as one of the nominees for Manager of the Month, I may be a little biased but surely he has to win the accolade.

Draws against Swansea and Liverpool coupled with wins at Old Trafford and against Newcastle has seen us unbeaten in April and where we were once ten points from safety we are now only five.

It would take an unbelievable set of results for us to preserve our Premier League status and it is most likely too late for us but these last few weeks have shown the full capability of the squad and what we could have achieved had the right person been in charge.

As unlikely as we are to stay up it’s still not impossible. Remember 2004/05, when the dream became a reality. We couldn’t possibly do it again though, could we?
