The charge relates to an incident in the 80th minute and resulted in Dawson spending some time on the floor.

It was not seen by the officials but was caught on camera. Slimani has until 6pm, Tuesday, to respond to the charge.

The Algerian joined Newcastle on loan from Leicester in January but has barely featured thanks to a thigh injury.

If the charge is upheld, he faces a three-match ban and will miss the rest of the season.
