Darren Moore insists he's still not thinking about the West Brom job despite another victory

Darren Moore has reiterated that he is still not thinking about becoming Albion's full-time head coach despite extending his unbeaten run as caretaker boss to four games.

The Baggies beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park today to delay their relegation to the Championship again, although they will go down today if Swansea avoid defeat to Chelsea.

Moore has now picked up eight points from his first four games, which is as many as Alan Pardew mustered from 18 league fixtures.

Not only has the caretaker boss won more league games than his predecessor, he's also beaten two Champions League winning managers in Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez along the way.

The calls to consider him for the position are growing louder from an adoring fanbase, but he's refusing to get carried away.

"I'm speaking open and pure here now, it's just the next game," said Moore, when he was asked if he wanted to be in charge next season. "I'm not thinking about any job or anything.

"I'm answering a situation and it genuinely honestly is on to the next game, that's how I've approached it.

"We've got a real tough game coming up (against Tottenham), a big game, we're just focusing on that one."

When Moore took over the Albion, the team had lost nine games in a row, but he has managed to turn around their fortunes with a mixture of organisation, attention to detail, and unifying character traits.

When it was put to Moore that supporters would now be calling for him to be appointed he said: "If they feel that way I'll leave that down to you guys (the media).

"All the talk and everything else, I'll leave it to you. It's been a real tough game today, I'm so pleased for the club, we've come into a real difficult arena and got a positive result. We just keep working."

Albion kept a clean sheet for the second successive away day and they won the game thanks to Matt Phillips's thumping finish in the first half.

"I'm really delighted," said Moore. "It was another solid performance and a solid result at the end of it. I’m really really proud to get a result like that.

"First half, I thought we could have been more than one goal up.

"We had some chances to capitalise on and could have gone on in at half-time with a healthier lead.

"Apart from Ben Foster pulling off that wonderful save, a world-clas save, I thought we could have been a couple of goals up.

"We knew Newcastle would come at us hard in the second-half. But to a man we stood up with some sound, resolute defending and we proved a real difficult rearguard to break down.

"I’d like to think the players and all the staff showed real team spirit and effort, and a lot of courage and determintation to keep a clean sheet.

"There’s a wonderful trust and a belief in the group and throughout the football club.

"You’ve seen today, we’ve come up here with a full ticket allocation of away fans. So the supporters have played their part.

"We need them, they need us. Together there’s unity and that’s been shown again today.

"I want that support to continue. In the situation we’ve come into the only way we’re going to get positive results and performances is by everybody showing that togetherness which we’ve had over the weeks."

Barring a miracle, Albion will still be relegated to the Championship this season, and some fans are frustrated by the fact this form has come too litte, too late. But Moore said there was no use looking back.

"I can't speak on the previous 32 games because you can't look at the past," he said. "I'm just looking forward.

"What's gone on has gone on, it really has. There's nothing we can do about it. It's been another positive week and we get back to work on Monday."

Albion will be relegated if Swansea pick up anything from their game with Chelsea tonight because the South Wales team still have to face Southampton and Stoke.

But Moore said the team would not be watching the game on their flight back to the West Midlands.

"No, because whatever happens outside, we can't stop that or determine what goes on. All we're doing is looking after West Bromwich Albion and showing our commitment to the football club. We can't deter whatever goes on outside, we just focus on our own."
