Lego Hawthorns created 'to cheer West Brom fans up'
A football fan has pieced together a Lego replica of The Hawthorns in a bid to cheer up Baggies fans.
Albion look set for relegation from the Premier League despite an upturn in form under temporary boss Darren Moore.
Jules Richards, 45, started building LEGO football grounds around three years after a few days off work.
He has now completed 90 of the 92 English football league stadiums – with just Preston North End and Coventry City still to be built.
Jules said Albion’s ground had not proved as popular as some others he has built – including Molineux, which he has made 11 versions of.
The models, which cost on average about £112 to make and are sold for anything up to £200, have since raised money for charities across the UK.
Cardiff City fan Jules, who lives in Luton, said: “It has taken me a while to get down to doing The Hawthorns.
“That might be because the dark blue bricks are one of the most expensive – and I needed about 600 of them!
“But I was still really looking forward to it and it was one of the easier ones to build.
“It took about eight or nine hours, whereas some of them have taken me up to 12.
“They’ve not had a great season so I thought by doing this I might cheer some of the Baggies fans up.
“And it has had a good response and loads of inquiries, but no one has taken it off my hands just yet.”
Jules has built other stadiums, such as Wembley, White Hart Lane, Anfield and The Emirates.
The grounds are constructed with the help of Google aerial shots and street views, with customers occasionally sending in photographs of the ground they want creating so as to get all the details perfected.
When he has completed all 92 Football League grounds, Jules says he plans to turn his attention to rugby stadiums as well as Scottish and European football clubs.
