So Big Dave’s inspired team talk got us a point. Yes, there was more effort, more desire, a little more for us to cheer about but sadly more mistakes cost us two points.

It was good to see an Albion team going forward with a bit of passion and pace but once again defensive frailties were all too evident.

What happens from now will I'm sure unravel itself over the coming days and weeks but for now something to cheer was welcomed greatly.

The next game may well spell doom for us if other results don’t go our way, so for now let’s just take the positives.

We were not beaten, we scored, and if only for a short time we have a man at the helm with Albion in his blood.

This will go down as the season of all seasons to forget, but we can build from this point, and build we must.

It would be nice to see the Albion kids unleashed on the Premier League.

It’s time to see Jonathan Leko, Sam Field and others. Send the Barcelona four to the stand and let them watch the youngsters have a go. What have we got to lose?

Well, it shows how far we have fallen that a home draw vs Swansea is deemed a positive result.

That’s not a dig at Big Dave, it’s a statement of fact. I actually thought there were a few green shoots to work with, especially first half.

It was obvious that the team were told to find Brunt as much as possible, where he slotted into a sort of quarterback role, trying to dictate the play.

The biggest issue is still how slow and one-paced we are, we really need to look at pace and creativity next season in the Championship, or we are in real danger of wasting the two vital years of parachute payments.

I was surprised, and a little disappointed with our substitution. Rodriguez was having a good game, so to bring him off, and then compound it by playing Krychowiak in the number 10 role was very strange.

With Leko and Burke on the bench, and Phillips and McClean both poor, I would have liked to have seen one or both of them.

What a difference a week makes. The performance against Swansea at the weekend was hardly first class but it was in stark contrast to that of recent displays.

Ben Foster has since admitted after the game that morale and spirit has improved dramatically since the departure of Alan Pardew and the temporary appointment of Darren Moore was announced.

Personally, I thought we deserved to win the game and if Brunt had showed a little more composure and not given away the corner then I believe we would have done.

At least getting a draw bought an horrendous run of consecutive defeats to an end.

Relegation to the Championship is pretty much inevitable whether it be confirmed against Manchester United or Liverpool in our next two games.

If we can just show a similar level of competitiveness, spirit and endeavour that we showed against Swansea another few points is certainly attainable.

‘Big Dave’ seems to have created a new energy and buzz around The Hawthorns and what he may lack in experience he more than makes up for in passion and commitment. Let’s just hope he can continue filtering that through to the players for the remainder of the season.
