Nacer Chadli and Sam Field back in contention for West Brom

Nacer Chadli and Sam Field are due to be available for selection this weekend after both players got valuable minutes under their belt for Albion’s under-23s.

Record signing Chadli has stepped up his recovery from his thigh injury by playing an hour in last night’s 5-1 defeat to Brighton under-23s.

However, the Belgian has only played 16 minutes for the first team since October, and his lack of match sharpness is likely to limit him to a spot on the bench this Sunday.

Field also completed an hour on the south coast after missing the last two senior games with a calf strain picked up on duty with England under-20s.

There have been widespread calls from fans for the 19-year-old midfielder to be included in the team during the run-in.

Albion fan Field has impressed this season, particularly under interim boss Gary Megson, but struggled for minutes under both Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew.

Egyptian loanee Ali Gabr, £15million signing Oliver Burke, and teenage winger Jonathan Leko all featured in Monday night’s defeat too.

Under-18s boss Jamie Smith took charge of the under-23s because James Shan, who is usually in charge, is helping caretaker boss Darren Moore with the senior team.

Chadli has only featured in three Premier League games this season in a campaign wracked with injury.

As revealed earlier this week by the Express & Star, the Belgian has a relegation release clause in his contract, believed to be around £16m.

Baggies skipper Jonny Evans remains a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford after picking up a knock to his knee in training last week.

Daniel Sturridge is now training with the first team but his hamstring problem will be assessed later in the week.

Albion have now sold out their 1,433-seat allocation for the game against Manchester United.
