The 37-year-old, who has missed the last four games with a knee injury, is due to undergo minor surgery on the problem next week.

Barry joined the Baggies from Everton last summer for £1million, but his time at The Hawthorns has been spoiled with controversy.

Not only was the Premier League’s all-time record appearance maker part of the quartet who allegedly stole a taxi in Barcelona, he infuriated fans further last week when he visited Snobs nightclub on the eve of Albion’s match with Burnley.

Barry was not under any curfew and turned up to his treatment on time the next morning, but supporters were unimpressed.

The veteran midfielder has made 29 appearances for Albion this season, triggering a new 12-month deal in his favour as part of the contract he signed last summer.

However, after such a turbulent few months at the Baggies, it remains to be seen whether he will enforce that deal with a termination by mutual consent in the summer on the cards.
