I think almost every supporter agreed that it was the right time for Tony Pulis to leave back in November. However, the appointment of Alan Pardew simply hasn’t worked. In fact, we appear to have gone backwards.

Not for a second am I suggesting that Pulis would have kept us up or done a better job than Pardew but it seems the players just don’t have faith in our current manager.

Worse than that, they have clearly shown a lack of respect for him during his tenure.

Kyrchowiak refusing to shake Pardew’s hand when he was substituted in our 4-1 defeat to Leicester was just another example of complete disregard for the man in charge. Coupled with the ‘taxi-gate’ affair, this has added to the woes of a shambolic season.

With eight games remaining and still eight points from safety, managing to pull off another Great Escape now looks impossible.

Many are to blame for this wretched season, both the managers and the players, but the fans deserve so much better.

I read recently that Jamie Redknapp suggested that we should keep Alan Pardew as manager when we go down, as he as a lot of experience in that division. The same was also suggested by Dion Dublin.

It just beggars belief that these two pundits should suggest that we keep a manager that has a track record as bad as he as. I only hope that the people who will choose our next manager have a few more brain cells than these two.

The biggest shock though as to be that the usual suspects – David Moyes, Mark Hughes, Sam Allardyce and the rest – keep getting these opportunities to completely ruin clubs.

I wonder how many clubs these chosen few have had the sack from and how much compensation they have been paid?

The last few games we have played have been hard work for us supporters to watch, when you think of the teams we have played over the last few weeks and one of those, Southampton, beat us twice and we made them look world beaters and they sacked their manager before we have.

Roll on the end of this nightmare season and let’s give a young new manager a chance. What have we got to lose?

It seems that for the Leicester match, you could copy and paste any of about 10 match reports from this season.

Albion start well, get pegged back, then capitulate. The only difference with Saturday is that the manager admitted as much. Pardew’s honesty is fine but doesn’t cover the fact that a large portion of the blame must sit at his feet.

Baffling team selections, refusal to take on board players’ opinions, lack of discipline, excuse after excuse after excuse.

Remember, this is a manager who basically let off four senior pros for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle on their company’s time, then publicly berates a player who dared to question his decision when he was substituted.

It seems that as long as the indiscretion doesn’t reflect badly on Pardew, you can do what you like. Realistically we’re down and have been for a while, the way forward is to plan now for next year. We all know Pardew won’t be here so let’s get him out once his break clause kicks in, appoint someone who actually wants the job and comes from a winning mentality.

Oh, and see which players are left once the rats jump ship.

In a nutshell, the players have been an absolute disgrace. Levels of individual performance and general togetherness have been seriously lacking.

Jonny Evans is one senior player in-particular that irritates me. Playing with the arrogance of a man who feels he’s well above the blue and white stripes, his performances don’t suggest he cares much for our current predicament.

He’s set the tone – apathetic, lethargic and mind on other things.

Gareth Barry, another ageing high-earner, has been nothing short of pointless.

Tony Pulis must shoulder blame for building his Premier League midfield around a man that can no longer run.

We then move on to the manager. Alan Pardew has proven himself incapable of finding results but it has to be said – he can’t head for Salomon Rondon, he can’t beat the full-back for Matt Phillips and he can’t run for Barry.

What chance does a manger have when the players aren’t even doing the basics?
