The winger, who scored Albion’s goal in the first half after a superb solo run, told the Derry Journal he had a television and a £26,000 watch stolen from his family home.

McClean’s night was going so well at half-time, with the Baggies 1-0 up at the London Stadium.

But an Andy Carroll double in the second half turned the game on its head and McClean’s night went from bad to worse when he got home to find his house had been ransacked.

He revealed the robbery on Instagram, saying: “When you get home from a last min defeat and your house has been robbed... thieving, smelly b******s! Great night!”

McClean’s future has been the subject of speculation after it emerged Burnley bid £8million for him in the summer but the winger appeared to point to his Albion badge after his goal.

It was McClean’s fifth strike in his 99th appearance for the Baggies, and it came two days after an own goal against Arsenal.

The Republic of Ireland international apologised to team-mates on New Year’s Eve after turning his back in the wall to allow Alexis Sanchez’s free-kick to slip through.

But the 28-year-old bounced back in style, scoring for the first time this season on Tuesday.
