Albion Outlook: West Brom fans have their say on Tony Pulis

I think we all realise, unless there is a dramatic turnaround in fortune in results, we will be looking for a new manager in the not too distant future.

Once a manager has lost the confidence of the supporters this much it’s almost impossible to turn it around.

The worrying thing for me is our track record with the managers/head coaches we have appointed in the past.

I think we can safely say that we won’t be shopping in the top table window so we can rule out any of the top managers.

Names like Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Mancini have been mentioned, but I honestly think we are kidding ourselves if we think we can get these types of people in our club with the wages we are currently paying.

No, I think we are destined to get someone like Alan Pardew, Craig Shakespeare or even Ryan Giggs. If any of these are appointed or managers of similar ability we are heading for the Championship.

Only two names I can think of that we can realistically get and build on what we have are Sam Allardyce or Nigel Pearson.

The only thing I know for almost certain is we will all be disappointed.

Let’s talk about the subs, never mind the starting XI. He brings on two wingers and after five minutes they change wings to be on their wrong sides. Even as a kid you are taught the best way to play against 10 men is to try to widen the pitch.

Playing Phillips on the left and McClean on the right means they are constantly checking back to their good foot and swinging balls in from deep into their goalkeeper. He’s clueless.

We used to be admired from afar as a team who at least tried to play the right way. We are now ridiculed by other fans and pitied for having to watch this rubbish every week.

He’s not a tactical genius. We’ve kept six clean sheets in 66 games. The players look bored. I love what Megson did for us and will always be grateful, but a management team need to have different ideas to bounce each other off, they’re clones.

Who’d have thought we’d miss Dave Kemp so badly. Get him out now, he’s killing our once great club from the inside.

After two games it was looking like another exciting start to a season, but that great atmosphere at Burnley seems so long ago.

There are a lot of problems right now and the first part of the blame goes to the manger.

The players look as though they have forgotten how to attack and it really isn’t surprising when Tony is playing five defenders and three defensive midfielders.

The next problem I have seen over the past few games may come across as controversial but is the performances of Jonny Evans. I am not sure if the transfer in the summer really got into his head or if he has had a disagreement with Pulis but something is missing. So far this season we are yet to see the player we fought so hard to keep.

In terms of the new signings you can’t really grumble at the attitude they have shown, Hegazi has been fantastic for a majority of the season, Gibbs has shown that he can defend well and bring it forward, Barry has been solid.

We would really like to see more of Oli Burke and Phillips who can both run with the ball and scare defenders, but under the current manager this doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.

When he was appointed Pulis was exactly what we needed but now we have the options for attacking football I feel he has taken us as far as he can.

He does not have the ability to play flowing fancy football whilst also being able to defend and unfortunately now we are a lot easier to play against because we go to games looking for a 0-0 rather than actually trying to win a game.

We will see in the next few weeks what will happen but it is really worrying that if something doesn’t change soon we could be facing a season in the Championship next season.

The end is nigh. The majority of our supporters have been against Tony Pulis for a long time.

When results were going well they were prepared, to a certain extent, to tolerate his ‘style of football.’

But with two wins in 20 games, he is undoubtedly experiencing the toughest time of his tenure since his appointment at the football club.

Another away defeat which fans are becoming accustomed to as well as a tepid performance against newly promoted Huddersfield who had ten men for almost all of the second half just isn’t good enough.

With chants of ‘Tony Pulis, get out of our club’ its clear that the hostile atmosphere in the stands is transferring to the players on the pitch.

Even when we made three substitutions on Saturday there seemed to be a lack of urgency until the final ten minutes. In this division it doesn’t matter who you are playing there needs to be the same level of commitment throughout the entirety of the game.

It does appear that at least for the time being, the board are planning to stick with Pulis but if this form continues surely there can only be one outcome.

I don’t know about the rest of you Baggies but something that’s really starting to grate on me is the opinion of footballing ‘experts’ on the club's current situation. They seem to be in complete amazement that most of our fans want Pulis out.

‘Why get rid when he guarantees Premier League football?’ Well that’s an easy statement to make when you aren’t spending your hard earned cash to watch that team play week in week out.

This notion that as fans we shouldn’t care about substance just as long as you survive is beyond ridiculous in my opinion but is one that’s seemingly shared by all these pundits.

Money reigns supreme over everything else and we as fans are expected to make do with whatever is turned out on the pitch because staying in the league is all that counts!

Well we’re not expecting to suddenly get turned into Barcelona ‘mark II’ but what we do want to see is an improvement going forward.

Considering the players we brought in this summer I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request. Well as far as these pundits and Pulis are concerned we are being unreasonable.

We should simply except the fact that, even though we’ve playing poorly for months now, Pulis SHOULD keep us up and that’s all that matters.

"You don't know what you've got till it's gone" sang Joni Mitchell. Don't worry, before you stop reading this has nothing to do with a certain cap wearer currently taking a holiday in Barbados.

I'm referring to Chris Brunt and James Morrison. Our mainstays in the team over the last 10 years. People have said we should of moved onwards and upwards in that time.

When they first arrived they were our best players. With a mixture of them improving massively and also dropping down the pecking order of who would be considered our best players are they still worthy of a starting place?

For me, most of the time this would still be a Yes. From memory, it wasn't until they came back into the team last season that we went on our mid season run. Could they be the answer to changing our form around again?

Sometimes change isn't a good thing. Looking at the manager I think most of us agree though that sometimes it is.
