The 19-year-old central midfielder has been promoted from the under-20s to replace injured Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

Field will be available for the European qualifier in Ukraine on Friday and will travel out to meet up with Aidy Boothroyd’s squad today.

Boothroyd had initially contemplated calling up 17-year-old Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, following his exploits in the U17 World Cup. But Foden was injured and so he turned to Field instead.

A life-long Albion fan who has been at the club since he was eight, Field started the first two games of the season against Bournemouth and Burnley.

They remain the only games the Baggies have won in the league so far this campaign.

Last week he signed a 12-month contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2021 and this week he was ranked 44 in FourFourTwo’s top 100 teenagers in the world.

Meanwhile, Baggies defender Ahmed Hegazi has been allowed to pull out of Egypt’s final World Cup qualifier against Ghana to witness the birth of his second son, Adam.

Egypt have already qualified for the World Cup in Russia next year. It will be their first appearance at the tournament in 28 years.
