If you had read Saturday's result in the paper you'd have thought how unlucky we were and what a good game it must have been.

Don't let this fool you, two Gareth Barry punts aside, one of which was helpfully chested into our player's path, we were completely overrun from start to finish and City could and maybe should have had five or six. You also felt that at any point, if they'd have wanted to, they could have gone through the gears.

Hear in lies the issue, Saturday was a free hit, everyone accepts that Man City are currently playing some incredible football and will most likely storm the league, so why not at least attempt to get something out the game?

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred you will get beaten but lets face it, if Brighton and Southampton can breach this team when we play defensively, Manchester City should have no issues.

It was such a wasted game and opportunity, a chance to get more match time into players who must now be considered for a recall. Alas, as is the Pulis way, it was wasted on pointless pragmatism that may yet spell the end of his reign.

We expected nothing. We got nothing. Losing to Manchester City was almost a certainty given both teams current form. However, it’s not this result which will ultimately decide Tony Pulis’s fate.

Another defeat on Saturday at the hands of newly-promoted Huddersfield and cries from the fans for Pulis to be dismissed could become a reality. The reaction, despite the improved performance against City was still one of boredom and sheer desperation for us to make a managerial change.

I’m not entirely against the opinion of the majority of fans to bring in a new face at the helm but hearing some supporters being asked ‘Who can do a better job than Tony Pulis?’ and the response being ‘anybody’ just feels completely underwhelming.

Surely if fans are so strong in their beliefs to wanting rid of Pulis they have an idea of somebody who could improve us? Then we hear some fans indicating they’d like Sean Dyche or Sam Allardyce who play a very similar brand of football to Pulis. Opinions are inevitable but perhaps we need a better argument with which to back them up.

This isn’t a Welsh town by the way, it’s Tony Pulis’s record in the last 22 league games. Doesn’t make great reading does it?

I heard him say that social media could be his downfall. I disagree. I’m quite sure the run we’re on at the moment could cost him. Arguably, we have the best squad we have ever had.

However, TP has said he hasn’t found the right balance. TP, you are not being paid the minimum wage. You are the highest paid head coach we have ever had. Fans don’t want to hear your excuses. We know you are working hard. You tell us every week we have to find a way to win the game on Saturday, so get it sorted!

Our fixtures after the international break are not ‘gimmes’. We have gone from knocking on the door of the top eight to scrapping in the bottom half, which has been reflected in attendances. I reckon there were fewer than 22,000 WBA fans for the visit from City (who are the best side in Europe at the moment).

This in itself tells you a story of unrest and how annoyed the fans are at the moment. Something has to change, whether it’s on or off the pitch. See you at Huddersfield.

Huddersfield away is looking like D-Day for Tony Pulis. After two wins in 19 against Premier League opposition even those whose only focus is results have had enough.

With a two-week break before champions Chelsea and Spurs away it would give a new manager time to work with the squad before two huge games in four days at home to Newcastle and Crystal Palace. These two games could define our season.

The other games this year are against Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal along with trips to Swansea and Stoke.

With one win on the road this calendar year and our only win since 2015/16 against one of the regular top seven being Arsenal in March then where are the wins coming from if something doesn’t change?

A reason some have questioned a change is “who is out there”? Well our Midland neighbours Leicester, who we played just a couple of games ago made the decision to make a change. Since then they brought in Puel who has won as many games as Leicester manager as we have in seven months.

How long Lai and Williams believe Pulis is the best man to turn us around only they know.
