James Morrison is out for the 'foreseeable future' after suffering a set-back to his Achilles injury.

The Albion midfielder has damaged his tendons and does not yet have a time-frame for his return.

He joins Craig Dawson on the injury list after the right-back was ruled out until Christmas with a serious thigh muscle bleed and a torn knee capsule.

Jonny Evans, who limped off with a groin twinge against Southampton, is expected to be fit for tomorrow's clash with Manchester City.

Hal Robson-Kanu, Oliver Burke, and Gareth Barry have all returned to training and could also be in contention to play.

"We’ve had a little set-back with Morrison," revealed head coach Tony Pulis. "Morrison won’t be fit for the foreseeable future. His Achilles has not gone the way we hoped it would.

"Hopefully Jonny will be fit and then we’re looking at Hal and Burkey - who have trained a couple of days - whether they’ll available or not.

"Gareth (Barry) has not trained all week but we’re hoping he’ll train today."

Albion haven't won any of their last eight games, and Pulis has cited the series of niggling injuries as one of the reasons behind that.

“The disappointment has been that we've not been able to put this group together from the beginning," he said.

"Craig's injury is disappointing for him and the club because he can play a couple of positions for us and has been an ever present in the club since I've been here.

"We're saddened by the fact he's got this injury but it easily could have been a cruciate.

"We've been a little bit fortunate that it's not that so there is a silver lining if you look at it that way."

Burke hasn't started a game since his £15m move from RB Leipzig in the summer after suffering a couple of hamstring injuries, but he's fit to play on Saturday.

However, Pulis is not planning to throw him straight into the deep end with a place in the starting XI.

"He's trained Thursday for the first time," said Pulis. "Whether one day's training is enough to put him into the team, we'll wait and see.

"Maybe for a senior lad who's been around the block a few times, yeah, I can see that, but for a young lad, I'm not so sure."

Albion face the daunting prospect of hosting unbeaten league leaders Manchester City tomorrow, but Pulis is planning to change his approach to the game in order to gain an upper hand.

"We’ll approach it a little bit different to normal," he said. "I won’t say how we’ll do it or not do it.

"They’ve been special this year. We’ve watched lots of clippings. The people who come to the ground tomorrow will watch a very very good team.

"For me this is what it’s all about. Putting yourself against the best. For Albion to be in a position to be playing, at the moment, the best team in Europe, at the Hawthorns is absolutely fantastic and everybody should go down there and relish it.

"Get behind the lads and let’s give it the best we possibly can."
