Wolverhampton’s Marcel Jakubowski, who was born in Poland but moved to the United Kingdom when he was four years old, has been a season ticket holder since he was 13.

Four years later, the now 17-year-old decided to start the ‘Polish Baggies’ online group after hearing more of his native tongue being spoken at The Hawthorns this season.

“I’m hoping that I can get more Polish Albion fans on board,” Jakubowski told the Express & Star. “There is a big Polish community in the area yet we don’t have a fans group.

“I did it partly because I started hearing Polish more often ever since Krychowiak arrived at West Brom so I know there has been an increase in Polish people coming to games.”

Marcel Jakubowski wants to set up a Polish Baggies group.

Krychowiak, who is on a season-long loan from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, recently helped Poland qualify for the 2018 World Cup after being reinstated into the squad following his move to the Black Country.

And the former Sevilla midfielder has been surprised with how much Polish he’s heard at The Hawthorns too.

“I didn’t expect a lot of Polish people here,” said Krychowiak. “Even in the stadium before the game I hear and see the Polish people.

“I know there are a lot of Polish people in Birmingham so it’s very nice they’re coming to the stadium to watch me.

“I met a lot of Polish people in Birmingham and so it’s always very nice to speak a little bit Polish.”

The club are planning to get in touch with Marcel this week because they are eager to support the set up a Polish supporters’ group in the same way they helped create ‘Apna Albion’, a Punjabi supporters’ group, and supported ‘Proud Baggies’, an LGBT fans’ group.
