Tony Pulis: West Brom are 'evolving'

Tony Pulis insists his Albion team is 'evolving' this season after their 1-1 draw at Leicester made it seven games in all competitions without a win.

The Baggies have lost four points from winning positions in the last two games, but their point at the King Power Stadium lifted them back into the top half.

Pulis is adamant his team is making progress, but says that's been tempered by a league that is more competitive than ever before.

And he wants more quality in possession from his new-look squad.

"Listen, the quality at times, the team is evolving," he said, after tonight's match. "I think we've got better players in the team now, certainly from when I started.

"You expect them to settle a little bit better on the ball. The last 20 minutes when Leicester really threw everything at us, there were times we could have picked them off and the final pass and movement was poor.

"We can do better than that and we've got to do better than that.

"But this is a relentless league. Take the top six clubs away and from that position right down to the bottom there's not a lot between each club.

"There are some strong teams in the league."

Nacer Chadli opened the scoring at the King Power Stadium with a sumptuous free-kick on his first start in the Premier League this season.

"It was a good free-kick," said Pulis. "It looks like Schmeichel completely gambled at that right hand side.

"We're pleased to have Nacer back in the team, having Nacer and Gibbs on that left hand side will give us a little bit of quality that we need."

Leicester, and Jamie Vardy in particular, started brightly, causing Ahmed Hegazi to pick an early booking.

But Hegazi and Jonny Evans swapped soon after that, which helped to nullify the England international somewhat.

"Vardy seemed to play more that side so I kept Hegazi away from him," said Pulis. "I thought Jonny was excellent tonight."
