Darren Fletcher left for Stoke.

The former skipper has revealed he left for Stoke City on a free transfer in the summer because he felt under-appreciated at the Baggies.

Fletcher didn't clarify whether his gripe was with the club itself or external forces like the media or the fan-base.

Some sections of the Albion crowd sarcastically clapped when the 33-year-old was substituted off towards the end of last season.

But Pulis believes it's because Albion's contract offer was not what Fletcher thought he deserved.

The Baggies offered the Scotland international a one-year deal with an extra year based on appearances, whereas Stoke tabled a two-year contract with an optional third year. "I think he was disappointed with the club not making him the offer he thought he was worth," said Pulis, when Fletcher's comments were put to him.

"That's Darren's view. I understand that. I don't think he would criticise the football club. I just think it was the offer.

"As I've said before, Darren was a great asset to this football club in the time he was here. I've got nothing but good to say about Darren."

Fletcher confirmed that he didn't want to criticise 'too many people' at the Baggies because he's 'got a lot of time' for the club.

And Pulis confirmed the former Manchester United midfielder has nothing against Albion.

"I don't think he has at all," said Pulis. "Everybody that knows him, knows he's too nice a person and too nice a man to do that."
