Royal appointment: Under-20s meet Prince William

The diehard Baggies fan from Telford was kitman for England Under-20s at this summer’s World Cup.

And because England returned with the trophy, the whole squad and staff were invited to Kensington Palace last Thursday for tea and cakes with the Queen’s grandson.

“They were cakes I’ve never eaten before!” said Frost. “They were very posh cakes, no Mr Kipling sponge.

“But in all seriousness, it was an absolutely amazing and humbling experience, and one of the best days I’ve had.

“He spoke to every single member of staff and shook every player’s hand.

“When he got to me he said ‘nice to meet you’, and I said ‘again’. I’d met him in the dressing room in South Africa 2010 after a World Cup game.

“He did remember, he may not have remembered me, but he remembered the dressing room. But seven years ago I didn’t get to shake his hand, so it was an honour to this time..”

Frost, who was England kitman in 2010, said Villa fan Prince William seemed keen to talk to one player in particular.

“He spent more time talking to Josh Onomah than anyone else because of the Villa connection,” he revealed. “He wants to go and watch the Villa play live this season.”
