Jonny Evans addresses speculation about his West Brom future
In-demand skipper Jonny Evans insists he will remain 'committed' to Albion until he is told any different.
The 29-year-old, who has been the subject of an £18million bid from Manchester City this summer, has addressed the speculation surrounding his future in today's programme.
The Baggies captain, who dictated the notes to programme editor Dave Bowler on Tuesday, said he was 'proud' to wear the armband for such a 'great club'.
Despite reports suggesting City were readying a second bid north of £20m to test Albion's resolve, the club's hierarchy are yet to receive any more offers for Evans.
The Northern Irishman has missed the first four games of the season - including today's match against Stoke City - with a hamstring injury. But he says his primary aim has been to get back to being fit.
"Away from the pitch, obviously there's been a bit of speculation around my future here but from my point of view, it's very simple," said Evans.
"All I've been concentrating on is getting fit and getting back out on the pitch and doing my bit for the team.
"Every window, there's always speculation over transfers but as players, these things are often out of your control and it's best not to think too much about it.
"Until anybody tells me different, I'm committed to the Albion, and I'm only thinking about getting in this team.
"It's a great club, and I'm proud to be captain. For me, all I'm thinking about is getting fit for today and helping us get a good result."
