Tony Pulis: Manchester City have stopped calling about Jonny Evans

Manchester City's enquiries over Jonny Evans have gone cool over the past few days, Tony Pulis has confirmed.

The Baggies rejected an £18m bid from Pep Guardiola's team just before the season started but reports claimed the blue half of Manchester were planning to return with a higher offer.

However, Albion have not yet received another bid, and Pulis confirmed the line of communication had gone cold in recent days.

"(Chairman) John (Williams) and the directors are dealing with that," said Pulis. "At present there’s been no contact for the last couple of days.

"Jonny is a West Bromwich Albion player and we’re hoping we can get the situation resolved and move on."

Evans is still not training with Albion because of an ongoing hamstring problem that ruled him out of the first three games of the season.

He remains a doubt for Sunday's match with Stoke, although has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers that start next week.

"Jonny still hasn’t trained with us," said Pulis. "I’m still hoping he comes in today and will be fit for the game on Sunday. We’ll assess it today.

"I should imagine he’ll be fit for the Northern Irish games. Whether he’s fit enough to play Sunday, that might just be a little bit too close.

"If he does train and is ready to go he could play two games for Northern Ireland and come back to us - at least he’s had some game time.

"In one way you have to be a little bit careful but in another way you’d want him to get that game time."

Evans has garnered plenty of interest over the past two summers with Arsenal and Leicester both keen last year. But Pulis dismissed reports the Gunners had returned with an offer for Evans this summer.

"That’s the first I’ve heard of it," he said. "Arsenal were interested last summer and made an offer last summer. But I don’t think this club has received anything from Arsenal yet this time."
