Ben Foster

Swansea scored with their only two shots on target and there was very little he could have done about either.

But he made a few important punches and catches when the hosts were peppering the box with crosses. 6/10

Craig Dawson

Looked comfortable positionally in a back three, and was making the right decisions for the majority of the game.

But Pulis was highly critical of the marking for Ayew’s goal. 6/10

Jonny Evans

The Northern Irishman was his usual mix of determination and composure at the heart of defence.

His floor header after cutting out Sigurdsson’s centre to Ayew was memorable, but it was his towering header at the back post that gave the Baggies the lead just after half-time. 7/10

Marc Wilson

Gave away a couple of free-kicks in dangerous positions, but looked in control until the final half-hour when Ayew and Sigurdsson started to run rings around Albion. 5/10

Allan Nyom

Saw lots of the ball on the right wing, but ended up passing backwards a lot because of a lack of options.

Nearly got himself in trouble during a spot of handbags with Martin Olsson. 6/10

Darren Fletcher

It was his well-weighted pass that sent Rondon through in the 20th minutes, and it was his deep corner that Evans nodded in at the back post.

Played with an energy and purpose not seen recently. 6/10

Claudio Yacob

Continued his impressive form with timely interceptions and challenges.

When Livermore arrived, there were question marks over his future, but he’s proved just how important he is to this squad. 7/10

Jake Livermore

Kept possession tidily enough, and got stuck in plenty, particularly in the first half.

But he sent his only chance of the game well over the bar. 6/10

James Morrison

Buzzed around with purpose and provided that crucial link between Rondon and the rest of the team.

When he’s in the side, Albion create more chances, and are much less one-dimensional.

Had the highest pass-success rate in the team. 7/10

Chris Brunt

Playing wing-back puts a lot of strain on a 32-year-old body, but Brunt handled himself well.

Also seemed to determined to score.

Tried catching Nordfeldt out with a free-kick and even shot from inside his own half. 6/10

Salomon Rondon

Rondon rarely gives up, but the infuriating thing about him is that, after working so hard to create an opening, he then clams up.

Didn’t realise he had more time when Fletcher slipped him through in the first half, and wasted a golden opportunity after forcing Fernandez into a mistake.

Dallying on the ball like that shows how low on confidence he is.

He’s done enough to prove Albion should keep him, but the club desperately need another striker or two to compete with him. 4/10

Substitutes

James McClean (Livermore 79)

Unable to make the desired impact. 5/10

Hal Robson-Kanu (Morrison 84)

Not given enough time. 5/10

Jonathan Leko (for Wilson 91)

Only got seconds on the pitch. 5/10

Unused subs: Myhill, Chadli, Field, K Wilson.
