The 58-year-old former left-back will give out the players’ player of the season award, the fans’ player of the season award, and the goal of the season award ahead of the 8pm kick-off.

Statham, who made 362 appearances for the Albion between 1977 and 1987, has lived in Spain for the past 15 years.

“I normally get over a little more frequently but this is my only visit this season and just so happens to be one in which there will be so much interest,” he said, alluding to Chelsea’s title hopes.

“Chelsea are deservedly the champions-elect but I can guarantee our boys will be determined to spoil the party.

“I’ve followed our progress and it seems to me we’ve had a really good season – we’re a solid team which is respected up and down the country and I am sure the Club will be looking to build on that for next season.

“I always love coming back to The Hawthorns and seeing some old faces. I’m not sure many will remember me these days but it will be an honour to present these awards.”

A brilliant left-back who won three international caps for England, Statham is sure to get a warm reception from the home fans.
