Not only did the Venezuelan break his own drought, he also scored Albion's first goal since mid-March before Craig Dawson added another in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Burnley.

And Rondon, who has suffered from personal problems during his barren spell, thanked his team-mates for keeping him going.

"I'm feeling good, it makes me happy to be scoring again," said Rondon. "For strikers it's obviously very difficult when you have a long period without getting a goal.

"There's always pressure in football, and you never know what is going to happen.

"But it's a weight off my shoulders to find the net again.

"My teammates have shown me so much support. You saw the effort we put in as a group.

"We managed to come back from a losing position but we are still disappointed not to get all three points."

Chris Brunt was the first to congratulate Rondon after his equaliser, and the mixture of joy and relief was etched over both of their faces.

Albion's long-serving Northern Irishman, who enjoyed an impressive game himself, says Rondon's goal gave everyone in the team a lift.

"I think all the lads were delighted to see him get a goal," said Brunt. “You could see from the reaction.

“We haven’t done well as a team in the last few weeks in front of goal, but it’s been a long time since he got one and I’m sure he’s as relieved as everybody.

“He works his socks off every week and today is no different, and when the ball fell to him I was delighted to see it go in.

“It was good, it sort of kick started the second half for us, after going behind we showed a lot of spirit to get back in the game.”
