West Brom tickets subsidised for Manchester City trip

Albion fans will be offered the chance of subsidised away tickets as a part of a directive to reward away fans.

West Brom fans have been offered a subsidy for their away tickets to Man City.

As a result, fans will pay no more than £20 for the club’s fixture at Manchester City – originally scheduled for April 22, but which has been postponed to a later date due to City’s involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Through their partnership with the Football Supporters’ Federation, Virgin Media will reimburse costs of away tickets over the price of £20 for a single fixture at all top-tier clubs for fixtures spanning from April 15 to 23, as part of the ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign.

But with Baggies fans not immediately benefiting, they can apply for reimbursement after the game has been played at a later date.

Brigitte Trafford of Virgin Media reiterated their intent to make positive changes for fans: “We want to be part of a positive change for Premier League fans across the country.

“Away fans are at the heart of the game and their tickets need to be affordable.

“Without them, the atmosphere in grounds is reduced and their teams don’t feel supported.”

Kevin Miles – chief executive of the FSF – added: “Tens of thousands of top-flight fans could potentially save hundreds of thousands of pounds in the coming weeks. It’s a great idea.”

The initiative will impact one Albion fixture in the original timeframe, but it will be Liverpool fans on the receiving end of the reimbursement when they travel to The Hawthorns on April 16.
