Walsall boss Mat Sadler issues challenge ahead of FA Cup showdown
Walsall boss Mat Sadler has challenged his players to create more special memories by shooting down Charlton in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Saddlers host the Addicks looking to continue an impressive record against higher division opposition this season, having already dumped out Bolton in the previous round courtesy of a stoppage time winner.
Sadler said: “It is one to look forward to. We want to create more memories with supporters.
“The last round, scoring in whatever minute it was, the roar that came up.
“That is what we play for. It is why you support, why you come to the games. We want more of those.”
Walsall, who sit second in League Two, play six of their last eight matches in 2023 at home, with the club yesterday announcing a £5 reduction in junior ticket prices.
“The supporters are huge us, absolutely huge,” said Sadler “When our place is going, it makes a right racket.
“When I first took the job I said I wanted more and more nights like we have already had this season. I want more to come, really, really bad.
“But it only happens because firstly the lads are showing a real pride in playing for the club and secondly the support that goes with that.
“I know the supporters are desperate to see a team on the pitch that gives absolutely everything. We want to create more of those memories and this is the next step. Our message to them is come with us on this journey.”
