Walsall v Colchester preview: Saddlers look to keep the home ball rolling
Mat Sadler’s Walsall are seeking to get back to winning ways at the weekend when they welcome Colchester United to Bescot Stadium.
Sadler’s team have had a modest start to the League Two campaign, boasting five points from their five games so far – they have not won since the second weekend of the season.
But they are unbeaten at home, having got the better of Stockport 2-1 and sharing the points with Grimsby after a 1-1 draw.
It will be a relief to play in front of a home crowd again for the Walsall boss, who has had plenty of time to work on the training ground with his players this week after a ‘jam-packed’ start to the season, now league and cup fixtures have calmed down.
“It has been a complete rarity as we have not had one,” Sadler said when asked about the luxury no midweek clash.
“So it has been great this week. It is interesting now because September is a lot less jam-packed so we got in some good training time.
