It was the visitors who took a seventeenth minute lead when Ashley Sammons, returning to his old club, took advantage of a poor back pass to slip the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.

Two yellow cards in the space of eleven minutes saw Rushall reduced to ten when Orrin Pendley saw red but they went in at the break in front.

The home side made a storming start to the second half with two goals from Montel Gibson and one from Gianfranco Gabbadini giving them a 3-1 lead.

The action continued at a fast pace and Sammons grabbed his second of the night to reduce the arrears but Gibson completed a fine hat trick when his header completed a tremendous move.

The home side were then reduced to ten when Marshall Willack was sent off after his second booking of the game.

In the third minute of time added Brian Smikle made it 4-3, but the Pics exited the Southern League Challenge Cup at the first hurdle.
