Rushall Olympic miss chance to go top with draw

Rushall Olympic fluffed their chance to go top of the league when they let a two-goal lead slip in the closing stages to draw 2-2 with Warrington Town at Dales Lane.

The Pics took the lead somewhat out of the blue in the ninth minute when a free-kick wasn't properly cleared and Alex Reid was on hand to guide home.

There was very little flow to the game in the opening half-an-hour. Jose Veiga was alert to gather at the feet of Ciaran Kilheeney before an inviting cross from Henry Eze at the other end found Reid whose powerful strike was well saved.

On 43 minutes a poor clearance out of defence by the visitors saw the ball fall to Jordan Fitzpatrick who rifled home with a low strike to make it 2-0.

The visitors pulled a goal back with ten minutes to go when a goalmouth melee ended with Conor Speed poking home from close range.

After Pics' Stan Mugisha missed following a pacy counter-attack, the visitors levelled with two minutes to go when Michael Grogan fired into the roof of the net.

There was still time for the Pics to go close when Reid fired wide from a great position after good work from Fitzpatrick in the build-up.

But it ended honours even in a 2-2 draw.
