Aston Villa-Tottenham fixture rescheduled
Villa's home match with Tottenham has been moved despite the game being less than a fortnight away.
Discussions between the Premier League and clubs were ongoing in recent days over a switch from the scheduled date of Sunday, May 18.
Tottenham were keen for the game to be brought forward by three days to Thursday, May 18, to allow them more time to prepare for potentially playing in the Europa League final on May 21.
But Villa have opposed the move, in part because they believe it will mark a change of precedent with the league having previously rejected their own requests to move matches when they were competing in this season’s Champions League.
